The CRMHelper application was Windows and Mac OSX compatible application. The application acted as a sidebar helper app for customer service employees but was later expanded for all employees (developers, managers, administration, invoicing, ..)
The application was a productivity tool (default mails, time-tracking, phone integration, ..) and helped the employees to get work done in a faster and more efficient way.
Apart from helping the employees it also helped the end client to receive a better service.

Created a Windows and Mac OSX compatible desktop application which was the main entry point for cityfashion clients. The application loaded different subapplications (like the CMS) and updated them automatically when necessary.
UI/UX was important here so the clients wouldn't have to worry about installing multiple applications. It was a seamless experience to always have the latest up-to-date apps on their system.

Years of development of the CMS of cityfashion platform. Worked both in browser (Flash) and as a standalone application (Adobe AIR).
I built a modular front-end CMS system which was used by hundreds of our clients. Did the entire architecting, UI/UX design and development as team lead for 3 other Flex developers (based in Chennai, India).

Maintaining product roadmap and the FAQ section. Also responsibly for delivery control of development work and release management.
Apart from the CRMHelper application I also assisted our CTO and COO in optimizing the operations of cityfashion. With a special focus on improving the workflow of the CRM team. Workload was drastically reduced by restructuring internal processes and writing clear procedures.
iPad application for retail shops. They could show the photos, videos, promotions, news, ... on the iPad in a slideshow and put this on the counter. Whenever a customer was waiting in line they could subscribe to the newsletter by filling in a questionaire.
The application used dynamic fields so clients could choose which questions / data to ask from the customers. The content was downloaded from a server and stored locally while updating in the background. Even if there was no internet connection the application kept working. Data was stored locally and sent to the server when the internet connection was available again.

iOS and Android application based on the idea of checkins (Foursquare). It worked on both platforms with a single codebase.
Users of the application could check-in to different shops, restaurants, bars, ... and receive discounts while doing so. There was also a leaderboard to choose the most active user of the month. Watch the video below for more information about the application.
Mobile application for iOS / Android / Symbian / Windows Mobile for the belgian classifieds market (Buying/renting cars). It worked on 4 platforms with a single codebase.

Mobile application for iOS / Android / Symbian / Windows Mobile. This application was a privately released app for frequent business travelers.
You could download one or multiple cities at home and use the application offline so no roaming costs were needed. The application provided tour guides (video's), POI's and events.
It worked on 4 platforms with a single codebase and we added some clever crypto-security for the video files so they could only be played from inside the application.

Due to the success of the national soccer team of the Netherlands at the Euros in 2008 (and the absence of the Belgian national team at the same event) we started a website to measure how much support there was in Belgium for our neighbouring country.
We created an interactive map of Belgium and users could register on the site and color their house in orange (the same as the shirt color for the Netherlands).
The map gave a clear view where the support was located and how much support there was.
The project was finished in just a few days, unfortunately at the time of a scaled launch the Netherlands were eliminated from the tournament by Russia.
Never publicly released.
Building a house wasn't really my cup of tea, so I was mainly a hands-on helper but when it was time to get to the home automation part I decided I wanted to do this myself.
Using KNX and Homebridge I built my own set-up for Apple HomeKit on a Raspberry Pi. Lights, curtains, fireplace, TV, ... are now all automated and available via Siri on my Apple Watch, iPad, iPhone and MacBook. See the video below:

I hope to find the time to record a proper video with my entire set-up soon.
After 10 years I am leaving Exuvis, the company I've been working for since 2009. In order to freshen up my skills on responsive web development and in search for a new challenge I created my portfolio website.
For this project I focused on mobile first, both in UI design as in performance. The aim was to get as close to 100 on the Google Speed Insights tests. To achieve it I had to do some things (like inline CSS) purely for performance reasons. On mobile I achieved a score of 98/100. On desktop 100/100 !
Static website for a local Bed & Breakfast called Sneprooi. Needs an update for responsive design.
A 2D matchviewer for the online soccer management game Hattrick.org.
This was the first big project I did. I did the entire front-end development and animations in Flash. This application was feature packed and provided a visual environment enhancement over the text-based Hattrick experience.
Apart from a 2D matchviewer it added various side features not available in Hattrick. Watch the video below to see the application in action. The project was discontinued in 2008 due to lack of time.
For my master thesis I researched on connecting the real world and the digital world. Going from research projects about QR-codes, Google Maps, etc.. I ended up with a prototype for augmented reality glasses. Using Flash and Papervision3D I was able to create a prototype where you could put on the glasses and see digital information overlays on the real world.
Back in the day it was only possible to replace printed markers. The CPU's used were not capable yet of replacing actual images. Applications in the prototype varied from being able to see a video inside a newspaper, looking at the weather forecast when looking out the window to hearing an audio-interview when reading a newspaper.
See the video below for an example.
With this project I was one of 10 nominees who were nominated by a belgian newspaper (Het Belang van Limburg) for the "Wanatoe" price 2009 in which I finished in 3rd place. You can read the article (in dutch) below:
